Firm uses underhand method to load "RemoteAccess:Win32/AmmyyAdmin" on my comuter in order to sell protection.
Today, I received a call from someone representing a Website called Windows Secure. The man who called himself Max represented that he was Microsoft. To make a long story short. I have problems with getting Updates downloaded. He said that he was calling because my computer was sending out Error Messages. He said there was nothing for me to worry about because he was going to fix it. I gave him permission to download Remote Access software. He pointed out over 2,000 Red Alerts or Warnings. He said this was caused by navigating the Web and all the time Malware was being introduced into my computer. To make this seem more realistic he said we would need to enter an access code which was the last 6 digits of the Windows Product Id or 700006. Alas, when I entered this in at the Magic screen it would not work so he had to get his Boss who kinda reminded me of the second step Car Dealers use for closing sales. He began to explain all the problems I had and how my computer was to die. He then said the Pass Code or 700006 had expired but he could help me out by selling me one for a week month year or 10 years. I made a few screen shots and stopped him. I explained that for 21 years I owned the oldest and largest Peachtree Accounting Support Center. (Computer Software Solutions, Inc. ) When I told him I was familar with and used Remote Access hundreds of times he got a little quiet. Then I told him that couldn't believe that Microsoft would stoop so low as to be building codes into their software that expire sometime in the future. I never heard another word. I simply pulled the power on my Router and Cable Modem and shut my system down. I called Norton to check on my Secuity. After reviewing my Norton Internet Security he said my computer was protected but believed I should call or talk to Microsoft to find out if these guys are part of Microsoft or in anyway associated. I couldn't find a way to get through to Microsoft by phone and decided this was one possible way of getting an answer. Could someone help me????

Hi, Microsoft won't call customer to buy anything. These guys and Microsoft don't have any relation. Please remove the Remote Access software immediately and don't believe these guys any more. If you worry about the security of your computer, please contact Microsoft Product Support Services. For support within the United States and Canada, call toll-free (866) PCSAFETY (727-2338). For support outside the United States and Canada, visit the Product Support Services Web page (http://support.microsoft.com/?pr=SecurityHome ).
